Mitten Christmas Tree
Christmas 2015

Every year, we have a Mitten Tree in the Sanctuary at Grace United Church of Christ.

As we place mittens and scarfs upon this tree, it reminds us that many people do not have the resources to purchase clothing to keep them warm.

As we place our gifts upon the tree, it warms our hearts that we not only help people protected from the cold, but that we contribute the needs of others by feeding the hungry at the Hanover Area Council of Churches and helping to support the HACC Changing Lives Homeless Shelter.

There were a total of 210 items including hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, Christmas socks, and one PJ set.  There were several sets with matching hats and scarves.  They were divided and given to New Hope Ministries, Hanover Council of Churches and Hoffman Home.

In the photo below, Donna and Barry Bankert spread out all the clothing collected from the tree on the piano.

Christ calls us to reach out with Love and share God's Grace.
