Body & Soul Weight Loss Support Group
This group was formed in September 2010 to support others with weight loss. This is a free group open to anyone, not just church members. We look at issues in our lives that can stop us from losing weight as well as things on
the market that can help. Each person keeps a journal of what they eat and we encourage, listen to and pray for each other.
Deacon Fund is used as a temporary assistance for those members of our congregation who may experience financial
need. The need may arise from poverty, illness, accident, job loss, fire, or other difficult situation. The fund is supported by direct contributions as well as profits from our grocery dollar sales.
Grace Samaritans Ministry
This community oriented group conducts many activities to donate to the local charities. During 2010, 143 hygiene
kits were put together and sent with some cash to Haiti, the vegetable table is sponsored from July thru September
with proceeds going to the Provide-A-Lunch program. Every Christmas, the Mitten Tree is covered with donated hats,
mittens and scarves and given to Red Cross, Hoffman Homes and Hanover Council of Churches.
Anyone age 55 and older is welcome to join Grace Seniors. This group meets the third Wednesday of the month four times a year in March, June, September, and December. The meetings begin at noon with either a covered dish or a catered meal. Following the meal the programs vary from entertaining to educational to a challenging game of “Jeopardy”. Members and friends of Grace Church are welcome to attend.
Ladies of Grace
The Ladies of Grace is a group of women age 18 and older who meet several times throughout the year. This group has a secret sister program which begins in February and allows you to remember you sisters special events – birthday,
anniversary and holidays – with a card or small gift. In addition to our meetings, we also sponsor a refugee, provide luncheons for funerals and light suppers during Lenten season. Our only fundraiser is the annual peanut
brittle sale held in December (we made 1,116 pounds in 2010) and allows us to make substantial contributions to Hanover Council of Churches, palms for Palm Sunday and carnations for Mother’s and Father’s Day.
The Resource Committee does not exist simply to raise money, but to give church members and friends an opportunity to work together. They sell pies, make candy and nuts, hold a chicken barbeque, and organize a yard sale in our parking lot.
Our faithful sewing group meets regularly (usually on Tuesday from 9:00 until 11:00 am) and we always end with a tasty snack. All are welcome to join this effort to make bed pads for the Visiting Nurse Association. This group in one year along has donated 818 bed pads. Also, the group is in need of plastic and sheets to continue to assemble the bed pads and some help with ripping seams out of sheets.
Grace’s youth group is an active bunch of kids. They have their own room in the church to have meetings. Youth Leader meetings take place on the second Sunday in November, January, March, May, August, and September. They have outings to roller skate, swim party, Hershey Park and a Christian Music Concert in Virginia. They are actively participate in the Crop Walk and ‘Souper’ Bowl to collect for Hanover Council of Churches.
